Derby!

So we got the bright idea to get up early and drive down to Derby in Santa Cruz. Me, Billy, Jay and 2 dogs crammed into a Nissan Frontier and got some at the crack of dawn.

Down the Coast

Got motivated to skate early and headed down the coast to...

The Family that Skates together

Spent some quality time skating this cutty ledge with Jimmie and his son Lyric and Art Van Delay's son Billy.

Bummer...

Gotimered.

Mission Mural

There are so many dope murals like this all over the Mish.

Top Spot

In all my years I never made it out the 3rd and Army... I have to say it is for sure one of the top 5 skate spots of all time. Sorry no actual skate footage, but sometimes that's how it goes when you are too busy shredding. I wish I could have skated here more than just one day.

Awesome and Awesomer

Got to chill with my homegirl MABS (most awesome bitch suckas!) the first night in town. She's holding it down for girls who ride.

San Francisco Lunch

I don't know about Rice a Roni, I think the burrito with chips and a Coke is the real San Francisco treat.

Bay Area to Bay Area

I'll be out in that other city by that other bay for about the next week or so. Maybe I'll have some good content when I get back. Rumor has it the Sevenfold site is about to get a make over soon...

I never bring you a problem that I don't have a solution for

Here is the cure for that which ales our fine pass time. New shapes developed by skateboarders with skateboarding in mind, graphics by an amazing skateboarder on the finest Great Lakes Maple pressed by skateboarders in the South East for the best pop and most durable deck in any skate shop. 100% wood, it's that good that we don't need any fiberglass like a surfer or snowboarder owned company has to insert to make their decks last. USA made premium quality for skateboarders by skateboarders, isn't that the way it should be?

Burton Skateboards

Nothing's going to change after the sellout (I mean buy out) huh?

Best Hat Ever

I wish we still had sourcing to make these.
It's the nike dunk of hats. I would make every color imaginable...

Brian Anderson Shirt

Staying on the skateboard art tip, I bought this T-shirt at a Skate Art Show a few years back in Bolton Hill. Brad Staba, Tony Cox and a couple other skaters had stuff in the show too.I actually think that day was the first time I hung out with my friend Nikki from skate camp... I've never really done anything with this, it just sits in plastic until I move again and re-discover it.

Don Pendleton Paintings

one of the all time great skate artists

New Whip

Just set up a new prototype. New shape, new wheel formula coming soon!

If we did ads in Low Card...

For sure it would be something like this... 'New USA made chew toys for dogs and wheels for skateboarders too'

Klein Retires

I know I'm about a week late on this one. Jeremy Klein was a true innovator and pioneer, and one of the funniest websites.

Blame the Board

Anyone who has ever skated with Ellis has witnessed this tantrum. For all you kids out there reading this, it's not cool to get mad at a good session, save those outbursts for your team sports.

* the only time I think it's justifiable to throw you board is if your board hurts you.

The Dragon

Kids still love skulls, but what ever happened to Dragons? Powell made a killing off dragon art in the 80's, I'm getting an idea for a new series here...

This Movie is a Book

*Teta style post

Caught Dune on cinemax the other night, probably one of Sting's better acting performances. The book is so much better, but it's also super long. The movie does a good job for the limited time.

A Step in the Right Direction

Chris Blose has been field testing these great skate shoes made in Brazil, the Sagaz mid top skates great with proper grip and board feel. 25 years strong in Brazil coming soon to the US. www.madrats.com.br

Ramp Bash Video

Some footage from the Ramp Bash we had at the Nerve Center on Sunday. Thanks to Scott, Andy, Glenn, Ed, Konrad, Blose and everyone else who came out and skated with us this weekend.

More Ramp Bash Photos

Really just a bunch of random shots from my birthday bash ramp jam at the Nerve Center. I was really stoked to have some of my all time favorite heads skating the ramp with us that afternoon (sorry about cutting off your head Andy). Video post coming shortly...

Architects

Nobody's been working harder at scene building here over the past decade like Ed and I. We are like those Doozer's from Fragil Rock just constantly building even when some fetal alcohol syndrome mutant Fragils come up and eat half of what we built.

From the Pit Crew

Andy brought me one of the most crucial parts to a great skateboard, bones swiss bearings (it's been too many years since I have been riding these). My Homies at Pit Crew hooked me up with their new Gonz shirt! Thank you boys.

For Fun Zine issue #18

Just got the new installment of For Fun. Jake's ad is on the inside cover and there is a classic Madman article in there too. I really love the whole aesthetic of 'zines stoked to be a part of this Rocky Mountain high.

Big Bowl

This monster was intimidating especially after working all weekend and trying to take a run with kids who have been skating it all day. I was really hoping the life guard would blow the whistle and give me 30-minutes of adult swim. Those kids killed it. I think the first kid was Chaz Oritz, he was doing kickflip front D's in the shallow end. Then there was the little 11 year Dakota who was doing those head high airs out of the deep end all weekend. The last clip is our friend Phil from Precision, the grand master of this event, truly inspirational to see him shredding all weekend with the kids!

Chug & Jump

The last night of Top Shop they had a party at the park. There was a contest where you had to do a beer bong and then hit a huge launch ramp. The kid who did the front 360 won it.

Sticking it to the Competition

Trade Show stickers showed up just in time for the trade show blogs!
